Cheating Behind the Misrepresentation of Hand

Indeed there is cheating when one intend to misrepresent his or her hand. Most likely, he or she intend to mislead others so he or she could take home the pot.

Yes there is obvious cheating behind misrepresentation of a hand but unfortunately it is not directly against the rules because many consider the fact that new players can most likely misrepresent some hands although they try no to. It’s acceptable for many new players to commit a mistake like hand misinterpretation without any intention to cheat, but how about those who are not new players and purposely keep on misrepresenting their hands on and on to take advantage of others, of course they must be stopped, their dirty game is something intolerable.

Typically, there are players who are not new players yet always intend to misrepresent their hands. They would normally call out a hand at showdown that they don’t really have. Oftentimes they have four cards to a straight or all black/red cards. Basically, their intention is to reveal a hand at the showdown and call it as if it was a great hand though it is not.

Cheating Finally Taking Place!

Cheating would finally be taking place at the table at some point when one player misrepresent his or her hand intentionally. Consider the scenario by which a player who would flip over an all black straight and then would say he or she has a straight flush. Others who have lower than a straight flush would then muck their cards thinking their hand is beat when in fact it is not. Later part they would discover the lie but will be all too late for them as they have already mucked their cards and can’t anymore be given back to them. And then even though they complain, their effort will be useless as misrepresentation of a hand is not directly considered as cheating or even a violation and also the cheater can use the excuse of being a new player though he or she is not.
