Cutting the Deck and the Lessened Risk of Getting Cheated
Mostly of the cheating techniques used in poker evolved with the deck, with the cards. Therefore, it is always best to cut the deck after the shuffle. This may not totally save you from being cheated by cheaters but the risk of being victimized of cheating can be lessened.
Nowadays, both in online or live poker rooms, there is already a rule that states that the deck must always be cut after a shuffle by a random player. Certain poker rooms from two worlds, the online and live, have a “to the right” rule that states that the person to the right of the dealer must cut the deck after the shuffle. This rule is effective but the random type of deck cutting rule is found to be more effective.
The Cut Can be Shifted!
Yes, it’s true that you can totally be saved from cheating by just cutting the deck after the shuffle. Do you know why? Well, it is because even the cut made by someone can now be shifted by cheaters. They have perfected the advanced sleight of hand technique that allows them to do the manipulation over the cut. This then allows them to have the deck arranged the way they wanted it to be.
Maybe you’re now telling yourself that you can’t, in any way, avoid cheating. Well, though the cut of the deck can actually be shifted by cheaters, you can’t actually just allow them to do the shifting and all right in front of you. By knowing how they shift the cut made by someone, you can catch them in action and finally save yourself from cheaters and their cheating techniques.
Normally, cheaters shift the cut made by someone in three different ways. First, they simply just take the original top half of the deck and place it back on top of the deck. Second, they take the bottom pile, pass it over the top pile and then at the same time pick up the other pile and drop it on top of the cards to make the deck appear like exactly as it was when it wasn’t cut yet. Third, they pick the deck up and drop the bottom pile on top of the top pile, making it appear as if the cut was honestly carried out however they see to it that the bottom pile must not be dropped directly onto the top pile so there could be significant edge of where the original cards landed so they can replace the bottom pile with the top pile.
