Yes, it’s true that it won’t be easy for a player to build his or her bankroll, most especially if he or she starts from almost nothing. On the good side, once he or she finally makes it, he or she can then next play to high limits that offer more cash prizes.

Well, some bankroll building tips can really help a player in his or her pursuit to achieving a better, substantial bankroll. Nowadays, lots of bankroll building tips have already been provided by some popular poker sites. But not all of the tips are that effective.

Here, we have some bankroll building tips we believe to be effective. Any player who are currently into bankroll building or who soon will be into bankroll building can actually take advantage of our tips here.

Some Bankroll Building Tips

Have a target and reach for it. A player who is working with his or her bankroll or will be working with his or her bankroll should set a target. Say he or she has to earn $20 a week or $80 dollars a month so he or she can have $400 bankroll in 5 months. Doing so will keep him more determined and eager.

Pick the best limit. Any player who wants to build a substantial bankroll must play at his or her best limit. The limit by which he or she will mostly beat. It is in playing at a limit that he or she will play best that he or she can be able to open doors for possible successful bankroll building.

Move down to lower limits if losing. If losing, there must be something wrong with the limit where the player is playing at. Thus, once losing some money, player must move back down limits. He or she must not commit the mistake of continuing at a certain limit although losing, just all because of pride.

Get up from the table when not in good condition. To successfully build up a bankroll, player should know when he or she can go on playing and when he or she can not. If in good state of mind and with right emotions, then he or she can go on playing. Otherwise, for an instance if his or her head is not in the game or on tilt, then he or she can not go on anymore and finally needs to get up from the table and get a break.

Of course turning a small bankroll into something substantial is not easy and indeed takes time. Well, a player who wants to accomplish this must be skilled and smart enough, wise enough, patient enough and of course disciplined enough. Because as he or she goes his or her way to turning a small bankroll into something substantial, he or she will most likely face bunch of challenges and trials.

Patient Poker

The key to a substantial bankroll is no other than playing patient poker. Player who aims to accomplish something like having a substantial bankroll from almost nothing must be into patient poker. He or she must lower his or her sights, and must be living in reality. He or she must take steps one at time for there is no need to rush if he or she wants to have substantial bankroll for his or her needs.

Say the player has $10 in his or her account as his or her bankroll, what he or she needs to do next is to seek for games that will suit him or her best then patiently play at such games for reasonable period of time which is just enough for him or her to generate some money for his or her bankroll. Thus, he or she must be smart in making choices at all times.

Best Games

Aside from playing patient poker, the player who wishes to build a substantial bankroll must also play his or her best games. In case sit & gos are his best games then he or she must go for them as he or she will most likely achieve his or goal with them. However, he or she must of course consider some factors such as variance and the like.

According to some pros, playing at freeroll poker tournaments is one way to effectively do bankroll building. Well, by playing at freeroll poker tournaments, the player does not only get the chance to get a feel for online poker but also get the opportunity to win money without depositing anything. However, though proven a good way to effectively do bankroll building, this has also some strings attached.

Best Freeroll Poker Tournament

Basically, the player who want to build his or her bankroll by playing at freeroll poker tournaments must of course seek only for the best. He or she should look for the best freeroll poker tournaments where he or she can play best. This is very important so he or she can maximize his or her winnings in a short period of time.

Well, because freeroll poker tournaments are for free, the player must look for tournaments that turnout is low and at the same time been offering great odds. He or she can actually try searching at PFO which is a good place to begin with freeroll poker tournaments.

Most likely, it will be best for the player if he or she go for private poker freeroll tournaments because of the lower turnouts and additional bonuses or money to the prize pool. Again, he or she can try searching at PFO where lots of private leagues of poker games and good efficient range of private tournaments can be found.

Strong Competition

There is indeed strong competition at freeroll poker tournaments therefore player who plays because he or she wants to build his or her bankroll will find it hard to accomplish anything. Most likely, he or she will be up to fight against good players who will do everything for him or her not to win even a single penny. Thus, he or she must be prepared enough to face the strong competition that awaits him or her.

At some point, you’ll get low bankroll most especially if you are a new player who intends to quickly build an online poker bankroll. And when this happens, your chances of having healthier, bigger bankroll much later will of course be lesser. You wouldn’t want this to happen so you better do some preventive measures. Monitor your bankroll and if its getting lower and lower you must have a plan on the next steps you are going to take. To avoid bigger disaster, decide whether you are going to cash out or play heads up tournaments. Either of the two will actually lessen the risk of losing everything and likely increase possible chances of having a healthier, bigger bankroll.

Cashing Out

It is best for every poker player to set a limit as to how much he or she can risk. By all means, set a certain point by which you will cash out, no matter what. However, consider some factors.

Develop sense of discipline that when you say that you are going to cash out $100 when you reach $200, then do so. Never go beyond the $200 limit. Be disciplined enough to follow what you yourself have set or else you won’t make it in poker.

Playing Heads Up Tournament

When your bankroll is on it’s way to getting low, then do the best option, play heads up tournaments where there is one on one and each player puts the same money up and winner takes all. More or less, if you win in a heads up tournament you can then double up your money and save the remaining that you have. However, just be careful as you may encounter a smart player along the way, who basically can win about 75% of these games and really do some poker bankroll building. Be very careful.

In poker, it doesn’t matter whether you have a small bankroll or have a big one as a start. The important thing is that you know how to maximize what you have as a bankroll. After all, bankroll of all sizes will always have a place in poker.

Basically, you just have to know how to maximize your bankroll. If you have a $200 bankroll or less, then know on what limit will you fit in and do best. Same thing if you have $500-900 or even as big as $1000 or more. The size of your bankroll will not determine your fate in poker, whether you will succeed or not. It’s you and your potential to make most out of what you have that will indeed determine your fate.

$200 or Less

Basically, if you have just right bankroll, say $200 or less, never feel negative. Remember that players who now have huge, healthy bankroll don’t have that much bankroll when they started years ago. They have just maximized what they have.

Well, in case you have $200 or less as bankroll, play at stakes around $.5-1.00 limit or at $5 Sit and Go Tournaments (SNG’s). Doing so, may be helpful for your bankroll. Just be careful with some $5 SNG’s that do have an absurd $1 entry fee, which equals to a 20% rake.

$500-900

Having $500-900 bankroll is already a good thing. Just maximize what you have by playing at some $.5-1.00 games to get a feel for competition. In the event you get to beat such games then go and play next $1-2 games. Also, you can try $10 SNG’s. Playing at these games is one of you best options if you wish to get some experience without risking much of your bankroll.

$1000 or More

To have $1000 or more as your bankroll is something you must be thankful for. You can play at whatever limits you wish to play. However, at best, you should play first at $.5-1.00 games or $10 SNG’s and just later on jump up to the $20 SNG’s if you get much experience.

Players who want to build their bankroll so they can play at their best can take advantage of some no deposit bonuses. Nowadays, almost every poker room offers bonuses to players who will be joining in but almost every poker room also requires new players to make a deposit from their own pocket. These bonuses may mean nothing for players because in return they also have to give out money, money that they can actually use as their bankroll. Unlike, if they try for bonuses like no deposit bonuses, they don’t have to give out even a single penny but still can get money in return. Although more difficult, there is good thing behind risking nothing, playing with someone else money and later on winning some for bigger bankroll.

Well, at present, there are several poker rooms that can give you free cash when you sign up but do not require you to give any deposit. The most popular of these poker rooms are the PitBull Poker and VC Poker. Both poker rooms are not big names in the world of online poker but they are popular poker rooms that can help out lots of poker players because of their no deposit bonuses.

PitBull Poker

PitBull Poker is currently offering $10 bonus for players who will sign up. There is no deposit required. Players just need to use the bonus code QUICK10 which will qualify them for a great bonus of 200% up to $200!

VC Poker

VC Poker is now offering $10 bonus to players upon signing up; just like PitBull Poker. Also, there is no deposit required. Normally, if players get to generate 1500 Action Points, they will automatically get an additional $25 in free cash. They then will get their bonus in $5 increments for each 300 Action points they earned.

For some poker enthusiasts, getting more bonuses and promotions is a great way to build up bankroll. Although some bonuses and promotions aren’t that big, they can really help.

Well, according to such enthusiasts, the best way to get more bonuses and promotions is to open up about half a dozen of poker room accounts during the first year of being into online poker. The player can sign-up at multiple poker rooms, then taking advantage of the typical $100-$200 sign-up bonus. Basically, he or she can deposit money at one site and play at least until he or she receives the entire bonus. Then he or she can either cash-out and move his or her money to a new site, or just leave it. If done at at 5-10 different poker rooms, the player can get upwards of $1,000-$1,500 back as bonus dollars from the rake he or she has already paid. If accomplished at low-limits like $1-$2 or $2-$4 fixed limit, the bonus will be as much as 80-100% of the rake back.

More Benefits

When a player tries to get more bonuses and promotions by opening up about half a dozen of poker room accounts when he or she starts out, he or she can actually build up his or her bankroll. Not to mention that he or she at the same time can try out different platforms thus allowing him or her to find what will suit him or her best. Later, he or she can also even find out the site where he or she can play best.

The Drawback

Although having many poker accounts can really help a player to get more bonuses and promotions, this can be too risky for the player. Thus, the player should be very careful. Most sites nowadays can track down players with more than one account in their site. If caught, the player might have his or her accounts locked or even worse, have his or her money confiscated.

So now you are prepared to play your first ever poker game for real money. If you have read the recent articles we have here, most likely, you feel prepared. Well, you might already have gained knowledge on how to move money around the table, deposit money to your poker account as well as withdraw money. Yes, these are some of the essential things you basically have to know so you can start playing poker for real money. But there are more important things that you still need to know. These things basically have something to do with effective bankroll management.

Well, there is no exact way as to how you can manage your bankroll effectively. But there are some ways you can do, or preventive measures you can do that can somehow help you in the long run, manage your own bankroll effectively.

Basically, as a beginner, you must first try very low limit games so you can get a feel for the games and to minimize losses. This can be the very first thing you can do if you later on want to succeed in managing your bankroll effectively. Never grossly underestimate the bankroll needed to play at certain limits especially those high limits.

Then, never treat your bankroll like a tournament buy-in. As soon as you have played for a couple of weeks and are at break-even or are up a little bit at one limit, never think of going next to a higher limit with your entire bankroll as you most likely will lose all the money you have. Remember that moving on to a higher limit early will just give too much pressure on your bankroll and on you as well as the player who will have to adopt different playing styles to beat stronger players.

At best, as a beginner, you must play at reasonable limits for at least 200 hours of play during which you’re either doing well or at least not losing a lot. Give yourself enough time to prepare for the harder challenges of high limit games. It’s best to take one step at a time.

Above all, so you can effectively manage your bankroll and not lose it so early, always play for fun and arm yourself with basic strategies. This will give you greater chances of making it in poker.

Beginners, most especially those who will play to have a stable income, will of course do everything to build their bankroll. Well, it won’t be that easy for them to build their bankroll, in fact they will be like climbing a pyramid. However, with determination and patience, they will of course later succeed.

Nowadays, for beginners to effectively build their bankroll, they need to start playing first at low stakes. They do not need to rush things up. Whenever they are ready, they can always move to high limits. Then they need to master the various levels. And before they even start on a certain level, they need to have the sufficient amount of money to back the limits they are playing.

Helpful Tips

It will be a long way for beginners as they build their bankroll. And there is no assurance whether they will succeed or not. With just few wrong moves, they might fail and even lose everything that they have. We of course want them to succeed and later have a solid bankroll so we have provided some tips for them. Here are the tips:

Look for the softest, easiest games. There are lots of these games online. As beginners, they need to have the easiest games so that what they currently have in their pocket will not be seriously at stake.

Avoid playing at high stakes too soon. As beginners, they need to play plenty of low stakes games to be able to get enough experience and later be ready to play at high stakes.

Stay for some time to where they play best. As beginners, they need to always consider their strength. If they play best at MTTs or STTs, then they can continue playing at such for a reasonable period of time. This can really help them.

It is best for beginners to start with a small, reasonable bankroll and just later make adjustments. However, at times, it is inevitable that they will need a large bankroll although they are just starting out. Oftentimes, this happens when beginners themselves choose to start by playing no-limit poker. Most likely, bigger blind will be tied up at $3 or even higher so they will most likely need to have at least $900. This amount is calculated using the “300 times” the bet amount rule.

Also, the need for large bankroll happens when beginners get to play at some casinos that have extended games within single round. During this instance, beginners will have to invest more money on bankroll.

We need not to forget that the need for large bankroll also happens of course when beginners decide to move up to high limits abruptly. Some after one or two games at low limits move to high limits without proper knowledge and experience. What they fail to realize is that poker is not a game anyone can beat in a short period of time.

Lessening the Risk

It is not healthy for beginners to have a large bankroll as being beginners who lack experience they may easily be cheated and in just one game may actually lose everything they have. That is why it is best for them to have only small, reasonable bankroll. However, as what mentioned above, there are instances that they will need to have a large bankroll. They will be on great risk but of course there are some things they can do to somehow lessen the risk.

Well, if they really like to start by playing no limit poker although this would mean large bankroll for them, then they just have to be cautious. They can start the game with a bet of $50 at a single time to find out if it will really make sense to have a large bankroll to gamble and to put at risk. And if they badly wish to play at a casino rather than online, then they can just research for the casinos that offer poker games with more gambling rounds so they can avoid them. As mentioned above, these casinos will just ask for large bankroll.
