Hi,

Recently, I started playing no-limit holdem with friends. We started playing at my home actually. I’m wondering now as four of the last five games I’ve made it to heads-up but ended being 2nd placer. For several times then, I tried various strategies but of no help at all. Do you know any winning tips or guideline perhaps? Another thing, I’m curious if the strategies typically used for a six-person table different from strategies used at other table with lesser or more players. What’s your thoughts on this?

Thanks,
James Casey
James,

When you are heads up, open up your starting hand ranges. Try and see cheap flops with weaker hands and push your hands when you have the advantage. When you see cheap flops, try and push your advantages when you get them. Also, don’t be afraid to play middle and bottom pair when you flop them. Draw to straights and flushes a little more. Also, any ace heads up is playable for a raise.

Yes, it’s true that it won’t be easy for a player to build his or her bankroll, most especially if he or she starts from almost nothing. On the good side, once he or she finally makes it, he or she can then next play to high limits that offer more cash prizes.

Well, some bankroll building tips can really help a player in his or her pursuit to achieving a better, substantial bankroll. Nowadays, lots of bankroll building tips have already been provided by some popular poker sites. But not all of the tips are that effective.

Here, we have some bankroll building tips we believe to be effective. Any player who are currently into bankroll building or who soon will be into bankroll building can actually take advantage of our tips here.

Some Bankroll Building Tips

Have a target and reach for it. A player who is working with his or her bankroll or will be working with his or her bankroll should set a target. Say he or she has to earn $20 a week or $80 dollars a month so he or she can have $400 bankroll in 5 months. Doing so will keep him more determined and eager.

Pick the best limit. Any player who wants to build a substantial bankroll must play at his or her best limit. The limit by which he or she will mostly beat. It is in playing at a limit that he or she will play best that he or she can be able to open doors for possible successful bankroll building.

Move down to lower limits if losing. If losing, there must be something wrong with the limit where the player is playing at. Thus, once losing some money, player must move back down limits. He or she must not commit the mistake of continuing at a certain limit although losing, just all because of pride.

Get up from the table when not in good condition. To successfully build up a bankroll, player should know when he or she can go on playing and when he or she can not. If in good state of mind and with right emotions, then he or she can go on playing. Otherwise, for an instance if his or her head is not in the game or on tilt, then he or she can not go on anymore and finally needs to get up from the table and get a break.

If you have read our previous articles, most especially the recent ones, you maybe already aware that it is too dangerous for beginners to play at real money tables for the first time. Beginners, because of lack of experience, may be easily cheated by cheaters and hackers. They may easily get themselves into unlikely and unhealthy situations. And they may even lose all their entire bankroll in their very first game.

If you are beginner, then you must keep such things in mind. When playing for the first time, most especially if for real money, be very careful. Do not place your entire bankroll at risk. Just start with little amount. Even experienced poker players themselves have started before with little amount. They believe it is still best to play safely.

Below are some tips beginners should know. These tips are about proper investing and setting of bankroll. If you are a beginner, these tips may really help you. Take advantage of them. You actually have nothing to lose if you get to know them.

So beginners can determine how much their bankroll will be or how much they are going to invest, they need to know the amount of buy-ins and consider the limit of course.

If will be playing at $2 by $4 limit game, the ideal bankroll will be equal to 300 times the amount of a single bet. More or less this will be $1200. Having this as a bankroll is just right for beginners.

Beginners who want to play in conservative manner can set just a little amount, $200 is already good enough for a bankroll.

If will be playing in casinos that offer micro limits such as $0.02 by $0.04, at least $5 as a starting investment is advisable.

Although the online poker arena often appears like a training ground, beginners should not take it for granted and should actually face it with seriousness and preparedness.

Nowadays, most beginners just play poker online without proper knowledge on basic tips and strategies that could make them win. Their reason is that they just choose to play online because they just want to gain experience and discover and shape up some of their possible skills. They fail to realize that online poker is not just plainly a training ground, but a training ground that can be really rewarding. If they can only beat the challenges of online poker, they can gain as much as what they can gain in live games at casinos, or even more. They just have to arm themselves with effective tips or strategies, perfect for winning.

Some Effective Tips

If you are a beginner who is into online poker and are now interested in knowing some effective tips, then what we have provided below are just prefect. We have below some effective tips for beginners of online poker. You are free to read them and later even make use of them in your first online poker games.

Mastering the language of poker and all online poker chat abbreviations. Doing so will of course let you play poker online so smoothly.

Playing calmly. An online poker game is typically packed with lots of action. Thus, it’s important that the player playing online stays calm all throughout the duration of a certain game. Not doing so may actually endanger him or her. Before finally playing online, it’s helpful for a player to warn himself or herself not to be nervous instead just play calmly.

Wise in observing what others do. In online poker, body languages or facial expressions of players can’t be seen. For beginners and even for the not so experienced, this is really a problem. However, there are still some ways they can try to observe behavior. They can actually focus on the playing pattern of others or on the hands they seem to play and seem not to play.

Folding lousy hands. Even online, it’s vital not to play every hand. Some hands are not worth playing and better to just be thrown away.
